The ADvTECH Schools Division leads the private sector in the field of education, contributing meaningfully towards the sustainable development of human capacity in South Africa.

• To be responsible for all duties as required of a Laboratory Assistant, including but not limited to: setting up equipment, chemicals and supplies for chemistry, physics and biology laboratories;
• Maintain and oversee inventory of equipment and chemical supplies including ordering and handling the required chemicals and gasses under the direction of the teachers;
• Properly sterilize equipment and glassware using the appropriate solvents;
• Knowledgeable about proper disposal of chemical waste and bio waste
• Research and test the efficiency of new and exciting alternative experiments;
• Managing storage system of chemicals and glassware
• Prepare buffer solutions of a given pH and calibrate the pH meter, prepare chemical indicators and biological stain solutions using appropriate quantities of reagents;
• Assist teachers in supervising activities, setting and invigilating practical exam papers, moderating and marking the practical exam papers;
• Managing of Fish Tanks
• Managing a collection of animals in terraria
• Managing Reptiles

Qualifications:                    

• Minimum requirement is a recognised Science Degree and/or a 4-year professional Qualification Science related fields.

Experience:                        

• Must have experience working in a laboratory in the same or similar type of position in a similar environment with specific knowledge of Science, Biology, laboratory equipment, chemical preparation and disposal procedures.
